About PTI

PTI is the first two-year career school in Western PA to receive regional accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

PTI students graduate with the skills employers seek.

Our associate degree and certificate programs are designed to meet the current needs of employers by following industry trends and technologies. Our Career Services Department surveys employers and graduates. Instructors and department chairs network through community involvement and professional organizations. And curriculum is developed under the guidance of our advisory boards.

Students benefit from two convenient locations:
• our North Fayette Campus in Oakdale – nestled on 180 acres between Pittsburgh International Airport and Downtown Pittsburgh
• our Cranberry Center in the Regional Learning Alliance just off the PA Turnpike in Cranberry Township.

Our History
• 1946 - PTI opens its doors.
• 1990s - Penn Technical Institute and Boyd School join PTI, expanding the programs offered to students.
• 2000 - PTI opens its North Fayette Campus.
• 2002 - The Middle States Commission on Higher Education awards regional accreditation to PTI.
• 2003 - The Pennsylvania Department of Education authorizes PTI to operate as a college and award the Associate in Science degree.
• 2003 - PTI opens its Center for Certification and Adult Learning (CCAL) to meet the needs of the busy adult with short-term, evening, certification, and on-line/on-site offerings.
• 2004 - PTI-Cranberry Center opens in the Regional Learning Alliance offering evening adult instruction.
• 2008 - PTI breaks ground for on-campus student housing.
